Halloweekend: Part 2!

Hahahahaha I almost made the subject of this entry "Halloweekend: Part 12!" I only wish my Halloweekend was epic enough to merit 12 entries. Hahaha.
Anyway! Onto part 2!
So yesterday was INCREDIBLY FUN, but it didn't originally start that way. The gig was all right, but Veronica wasn't able to go, which was sad. Actually, not a lot of people went to the gig in general: it was just me, Tom, Charlotte, Stephanie, Brian, Drew, and a new guy (didn't get his name). Most of them left early, too, so it was just going to be me, Tom, Charlotte, and Stephanie going to Charlotte's party. Luckily, Simon (who went with us on the record store crawl) met up with us towards the end of the gig, so it was less awkward.
However, once we got to the party, it became awkward again because there weren't many people there, so for the first hour or so we just sat around and ate a fail pumpkin pie that Charlotte made. Luckily, someone got the idea to start a game of Poker, and later a game of Kings (which they referred to as "Ring of Fire" which confused me at first) so the party picked up again. Charlotte's housemates were all very cool and friendly- I hope I get to hang out with them again soon. It ended up being an awesome time overall :) :) :
Today I haven't been doing much. Had a nice Skype date with Dad and Kid, which was awesome. Aaaaaaaaand it looks like the Bills are going to lose again. Wowwwww.

Halloweekend: Part 1!

No post yesterday because it was the start of my epic HALLOWEEKEND! (I love portmentaus). As one may expect, this weekend is full of shenanigans that keep me very busy, so I'll cover Thursday and Friday in today's update. I doubt I'll update tomorrow, so expect another update on Sunday.
Anyway, yesterday was BU's Halloween party! I went with Stephanie and Anakaren, and we had a great time! Stephanie took a bunch of pictures, which I'll post in this entry when they're on Facebook. They also took some pictures for the BU London newsletter, so I might be feauted on there too. Yay! The party was really cool for a bunch of reasons. First, it was extremely close by (the cab ride home was only 6 pounds!) so I didn't end up spending lots of money. Also, even though they made such a huge deal about it selling out, there weren't as many people there as there were at the Start of Semester party. Usually, this is a bad thing, but the start of semester party was so darn PACKED that it was hard to even move/hang out with people. This party was a much more manageable size. Also, we were given 2 drink vouchers with our tickets, but I got 2 extra because Chelsea didn't end up going! Huzzah! This made for a very fun night.
Today, I didn't do much- just watched "The Office", "The Apprentice", etc. The musical theater-themed plot on "The Apprentice" made me very happy.
Tomorrow Stephanie, Veronica, and I are going to another FREE GIG with the AMS- I believe it's this psychedelic music festival thing. Then we're all going to Charlotte's flat for another Halloween party! Should be very fun. I'm excited to be going to a legit house party instead of one at a club- mainly because I don't like dancing, lol.
Anyway, that's about it. Have a great Halloweekend, Internet!

*sniffles*

Hey guys!
So yesterday and today I've had this epicly terrible cold. Mehhh. I'm 90% sure it's just a cold and not anything else, because I know how my body works. I also think that it should be better tomorrow, because I usually have 1-2 days where it's terrible and then it get better. This morning I had a sinus headache thing as well, but I took some medicine and now it's gone, but the cold part isn't.
A bit of sad news: I haven't written about this in my blog before because I didn't want to gossip/publicize it, but today my one roommate, Brittany, went home. She was having some issues with her internship and with adjusting to life here in general. We were all sad to see her go.
Yesterday (despite my cold) I went to a free gig with the AMS, which was really cool! The bands that played were pretty psychedelic and awesome. I had a good time, but would've enjoyed it more if I was healthier.
Today I have to hand in my draft of my research proposal, but since I thought it was due earlier I already have most of it written up, so I'm not too worried.
BU's having a Halloween party tomorrow, and I'm really excited about it! Hopefully I'll be better by then.

I don't like Mondays

Mehhh...I've had a headache today, and it's not the most terrible headache in the world but it's just mad annoying, especially because I haven't had one in a while.
Had my Shakespeare class today, which was fun, and after that I finished Henry IV Part 2.
Tomorrow looks like it's going to be more productive...I'm actually going to GO TO THE LONDON LIBRARY, for one thing! I'm excited to legit start my research. I don't have class tomorrow so I'm looking to spend a couple hours there. After that, I'm going to a free gig with the AMS, which should be really fun also. I'm especially glad that it's FREE! Yay!
Also, I bought my ticket for the Halloween party on Thursday! Yay! There's going to be a costume contest and the winner will get 50 pounds! I honestly never win those things due to my lack of creativity and lack of funds, though, so I'm probably just going to go with my earlier "black cat" plan. At home, I have this really long white skirt and I wish I had it here so I could wear it with my white sparkly tank top and be an angel. Ah well. Black cat is better- I just need to buy cat ears, and those should hopefully be cheap and easy to find somewhere. OOH, I just remembered that my gloves are leopard print! I'm totally wearing those too! Unfortunately, I don't own any other leopard print things, but that's not necessary.

Still reeling over the Bills loss...

URGH, BUFFALO! WHY MUST YOU DO THIS TO US?! SERIOUSLY!?

Ok, better now. It's just because I'm not in the US right now. That's what I keep telling myself.
Anyway, today I did my launrdy, which was nice. I ended up not going to the library to do researc because they're closed on Sundays and I was stupid and forgot this fact. It was a nice day anyhow though, apart from that heartbreaking loss.
I have a fun week ahead of me! Free gig with the AMS on Tuesday, BU's Halloween party on Thursday, and another gig with AMS on Saturday! Woohoo!
Entry cut short so I can brood more on how I am going to kill some referees...

A Shakespeare Saturday!

Hola comrades!
So today it seems like my cough/cold thing has improved (yay) but I kinda just wanted to stay in anyway because I went out on Tuesday and Thursday night. This has made for a very quiet Saturday, as basically everyone else went out and did stuff today. Sometimes I think I should've gone out tonight, but I really don't have the money to be going out 3 nights a week. 2 is pushing it already, really.
Anyway! I plowed my way through Henry IV Part 2 today (hence the title of this entry) and I've basically read all that I need to for Monday! So that's a huge relief. This has allowed me to start doing research for my paper! Tomorrow I am going to go down to the London Library and look at some books that will hopefully aid me in their research (it looks like they have a facsimile of a manual for governesses at the time- OH MY GOD SO COOL!). Other than that, I don't really have any other plans.
I need to figure out a Halloween costume. Now, I know the Brits aren't big on Halloween, but BU's having a Halloween party on Thursday so I need a (cheap) costume for that. Ideas?
I might just be something stupid like "a black cat" and buy cat ears and draw whiskers on with eyeliner pencil and then wear all black. Then all I have to buy is cat ears, really. Hmm, interesting.

The entry filled with clips from Oliver!

Hey guys!
So Thursday was basically a go-go-go type of day, so I didn't really have any time to update! Here's what happened:
After my class, we all took a field trip to the Charles Dickens house/museum, where he lived for part of his life. It was really cool! (I have some pictures of the outside of the house, which I'll probably add to this entry later). It's a smaller museum but REALLY nice and informative! They also had a special exhibit on Oliver! which thrilled me, of course! They had Nancy's original dress from the musical, original sketches of the set design, prop strawberries from "Who Will Buy", etc. Made me so happy! I'll embed a youtube clip from the movie:

SINGING UNCHANGED BOYS! GAH! They were playing "As Long as He Needs Me" in the exhibit- I'm guessing this one would've made everyone hungry, though I wished they played different songs from the musical instead of the same one the entire time.
Gah, now I'm going to have Oliver! songs in my head the rest of the day. Let's have another clip!

Anyway, then I went to a meeting of the Tea Club at Imperial with Stephanie, which was really nice. Unlimited tea and pastries for 50p! After that, I was just going to relax/not go out because I went out on Tuesday, but Veronica (who I met when I went to the gig with AMS last Tuesday) invited me to a karaoke night, so I did that for the rest of the night. Such fun!
Today I relaxed and didn't go out, as I think I'm developing some sort of cough/cold thing. Meh. Hopefully I'll be better by tomorrow.

Surprisingly, her productivity continued...

Hey all!
So I ended up completely FINISHING "Great Expectations" on Monday, which was great! I was able to spend all of Tuesday preparing my presentation, then. I technically could've updated yesterday, but between doing work and hanging out with AMS, I didn't have much time. Meh.
But yesterday was really fun! The Imperial Bar was finally finished with the renovations, so now it's a lot bigger and they serve legit food there. They also serve CURLY FRIES, which I hadn't had since I've been here. I was really excited to order them, but by the time I did they said they had ran out. So I ordered some regular fries instead, no big deal. But THEN they bring a plate of curly fries to our table! And I'm like "Sweet! They actually had curly fries after all and gave them to me!" But that was not the case. After looking at my receipt, the waiter was like "oh no, these are for another table" and TOOK THEM AWAY FROM ME. I was upset, lol.
Today I'm being productive again. I'll probably finish "Henry IV" today- I only have 1 act left!

Just another manic Monday...

Hey everyone!
My productivity blast from yesterday continued into today. Yay! I've now just finished reading part 2 of "Great Expectations", which was an even faster read than part 1! Like I said yesterday, the fact that I'm really loving this reading is making me excited for my Dickens class next semester.
Just had my Shakespeare class today from 10-2. It went well, though I hate that my Mondays start at 10 instead of 1:15 like they used to -_-. Ah well, it's a good class anyway.
The time of my flight back to Rochester got changed FOR THE THIRD TIME! Wowww. First it was leaving at 10:35, then 11:10, and now it's leaving at 10:30. So my layover is back to 2.5 hours. That should be enough time, I think, unless I take forever to get through customs or something like that. If the flight time gets pushed to something like 9, THEN I'll be super worried. But for now it's just annoying to keep getting emails from Travelocity. MAKE UP YOUR MIND, JETBLUE!
Tomorrow I'm going to hang out with the AMS again at the Imperial Bar, because apparently it's finally done getting renovated. That should be fun. Also, NO CLASS TOMORROW! YAY TUESDAYS!

PRODUCTIVITY!!!

So today has been extremely productive! Yay! First of all, I FINALLY finished the "Henry IV" reading for tomorrow, so I was able to start "Great Expectations" for Wednesday. I'm greatly preferring the latter to the former. I haven't read any Dickens since I did "A Tale of Two Cities" freshman year (for the second time) so this is really fun!
Also, a trip is in the works! I'm tentatively going to Dublin with some friends on the weekend of November 12! Nothing's solid/booked yet (we just discussed this yesterday, lol) but I'm still SUPER EXCITED!
Had a nice Skype date with my immediate family as well as Aunt Mary, Uncle John, and Grandma Dolores! Yay for the magic of Skype!
This entry is short because I've got more of "Great Expectations" to read! I guess I just feel like being succinct today, lol.

We're here because of the music

Brrrr! I'm cold again. *puts on cardigan* Ahhh, that's better.
ANYWAY, my feet really hurt because of the record store crawl today! It was more of a record store crawl than a pub crawl because we went to 4 or 5 record stores and only 2 pubs, lol. Shows what's on OUR minds...also, we totally bypassed the chocolate week events, apparently. But I got my chocolate fix anyway with an EPICLY AMAZING Nutella and strawberry crepe at Portobello Market! Nomnomnomnomnomnom.
So yeah. Short entry today because I have some Henry IV to read. Also, I've been really tired all day for some reason (hmm, maybe it's because you walked all over London?) so I want to get as much Shakespeare reading done today before I fall asleep. So I'm not going out tonight, because even if I didn't have work to do I spent a fair amount of money anyway topping up my Oyster card -_-. On the plus side, if you want to buy music in London, I can tell you where to go! Yay!

Cold London days...

So it became really cold in London again. I know it's fall and this is how it's supposed to be, but it's still annoying. This annoyance is ramped up because of our basement room that retains no heat at all. Chelsea is in Barcelona right now- I'm sooooo jealous.

So, I *did* end up seeing the RCM orchestra perform last night, and it was EPIC. (The Family Guy clip does not reflect my thoughts on the piece, lol). They performed Stravinsky's "Symphony in Three Movements" as well as Beethoven's 9th symphony, and they were AMAZING at both of them! Seeing the last movement of Beethoven's 9th performed live is an amazing thing.
Today I've basically just relaxed, bought groceries, etc. I don't think I'm going out tonight because I went out on Tuesday night this week and to the concert yesterday. Also, tomorrow is going to be AMAZINGLY EPIC because I am going to go on a pub/record store crawl with the AMS! This would be an epic event in and of itself, but it's made EVEN MORE EPIC by the fact that it's apparently CHOCOLATE WEEK! and we're going to get some FREE CHOCOLATE SAMPLES or something like that! This is almost a perfect Miranda event, lol.

Tutor meeting, etc.

So today I had my first meeting with my tutor about my research paper! It went really well! Also, our draft proposal wasn't due today, so that made me feel a lot better- it's not due until the 28th, so I have time to revise it, etc. He really likes my idea a lot, which is good. Over the weekend (probably tomorrow or Sunday) I'm going to try to head over to the London library to see what they have regarding actual accounts from 19th-century governesses (god, I'm getting so excited already!).
Today's Thursday, so I'm probably going to out tonight. What I'll *probably* do is go to a karaoke night with Veronica that she told me about on Tuesday. If that falls through, I might see if people here want to go out OR go see the orchestra at the Royal College of Music, who's performing Beethoven's 9th today and tomorrow! Two BU kids in the RCM program made the orchestra (which is a HUGE accomplishment). And one of them is a viola player! VIOLA POWER!
Other than that, I'm just going to do more homework. Yay Shakespeare!

This post is more than just a title!

The title is a reference to the fact that I originally typed in the title and just pressed "enter" by mistake, causing the post to just consist of the title. Fail.
So I totally should've updated yesterday because it was Tuesday and I had no class, but I guess I just got lazy or something like that. The homework's starting to pile up again, though, so I can't be lazy from break anymore. I have to read acts 2-3 and part of 4 of "Henry IV" by Monday and all of "Great Expectations" by Wednesday. Also, my research proposal is due tomorrow, but I've been strategically working on it a little bit each day, so I only have about ~200 words left to write for it.
Yesterday was really fun! I went to another gig with the AMS. Fortunately, lots more people came this time, and I made lots of good friends! I'm also doing something with them on Saturday, too.
Today I discovered that Sainsbury's has a Coinstar machine! I totally thought that was just a US thing, so I was really happy to discover one, as I had SO MUCH extra change- about 6 pounds, in fact! YAY MONEY!
I'm going to make dinner now because there aren't a lot of people in the kitchen, and then I'll start on my proposal writing/reading.

Non-day off

Anyway, I don't have a day off today like the rest of y'all because they don't celebrate this in the UK:

Instead, I had a Shakespeare class at 10 in the morning! Not at 9, like I thought, which is good, because 10 is a LOT more manageable than 9, in my opinion. The class was good- we discussed "Henry IV". It's with the same professor that teaches my other 2 classes, so I already knew that I liked his teaching style.
Speaking of professors, my tutor for my research paper officially approves of my topic! I don't know if I told this blog what I've finally chosen. I'll copy and paste what I told him, because I'm too lazy to type it all out again.

My research paper will focus on how being a governess is portrayed in the works of the Bronte sisters, specifically in Charlotte Bronte’s Jane Eyre and Anne Bronte’s Agnes Grey. I will contrast how being a governess is portrayed in their works to actual accounts of being a governess at that time in history, and see where the similarities and differences lie. I might just focus on either Jane Eyre or Agnes Grey if discussing both of them proves too daunting, but I’d like to do both of them.

Sounds good, no? Anyway, for Thursday I have to type up a much longer version of this going more in-depth into what I want to do, but he's approved my idea, at least.
One thing that I like about this 10-2 Shakespeare class is the fact that, well, we're out at 2 rather than 3 or 5:15, which gives me much more time to work (since I rarely get anything substantial done in the morning). I think I'd still rather sleep in, though, heh.
Tomorrow I HAVE NO CLASS! So I guess that can count as my day off for now, lol. I'm going to get more work done then and at 5 I'm going to another concert with the AMS. Fun!

Epic concert makes up for not updating yesterday

^ See the title.
So! Yesterday I went with the Alterative Music Society (AMS) at Imperial to WORLD INTERNATIONAL JOHN PEEL DAY 2010. A blurb from the Facebook event that explain it much better than I can:

The Short:
A collective of 20 Promoters, Labels, Zines and Radio DJs will be presenting over 30 acts & DJs on 3 stages in celebration of the man who gave us all good taste!

The Blurb:
John Peel was the greatest DJ the world has known and over the course of his 40-year career he rode on the crest of a wave bringing the best groundbreaking acts to the public. From T Rex, David Bowie, Elton, Captain Beefheart, The Slits, The Fall, Louden Wainwright, The Damned, PJ Harvey, Pulp, Laurie Anderson, Extreme Noise Terror to Nirvana, The White Stripes and many many more acts owed their lucky break/careers to John Peel. We will celebrate his legacy with red wine, loud music and a lot of dancing and laughter!

The day was incredibly epic. We were basically at the concert from 2:30-11, with a quick dinner break at Subway in between. Some of my favorites of the bands that I saw there:
Superman Revenge Squad (http://www.myspace.com/supermanrevengesquad)
Lail Arad (http://www.myspace.com/lailarad)
No Cars (http://www.myspace.com/nocars)
Bearsuit (http://www.myspace.com/bearsuit)

The people of AMS were REALLY cool, also! I had a great time meeting all of them. They seem like a really cool, friendly group of people. The concert was really fun last night because it was one of the first times that I've ever felt like a native and not a tourist. It wasn't a huge arena show- it was in this bowling alley/diner/bar/concert venue thing- so it wasn't something that everyone goes to, so that was cool. The whole thing reminded me of Almost Famous- just being someplace just for the music, with your friends. I'm going to use this opportunity to embed my favorite scene from Almost Famous, which has nothing to do with this post, but I love it anyway:

I'm going to another event with AMS on Tuesday night (and probably on Saturday, too) so that'll be lots of fun too!
Today I'm basically just doing work, lol. I have to read the first act of Henry IV for my Shakespeare class that starts tomorrow and is at 9 IN THE MORNING. DO NOT WANT. I mean, I want the Shakespeare class, but not that early, heh. I know lots of people who are taking it, though, so it should be fun. I also have to do a pretty big grocery shop today. The theater groups at Imperial are doing a techie thing today that I really should go to. Technically, it runs from 10-6 and you can go anytime you want, but I think by the time I get everything done it'll be too late to do anything worthwhile.

My Bath excursion!

So I forgot to update yesterday (that seems to be a running theme...) even though I totally had lots of opportunities to, lol. Anyway, this entry will be about my trip to Bath, which technically isn't over yet as I'm still here, lol. If anything other awesome things happen after I'm done writing this entry, I'll write about it tomorrow.
So, as Sarah pointed out in the comments of my entry, I actually didn't end up going to the pub crawl on Wednesday night, because it was actually on Thursday and I read the date wrong. WHAT A FAIL. That actually worked out a lot better for me in the long run, though, because I got more time to relax and pack.
I safely got onto the train to Bath on Saturday morning. Bath is SUCH a cute town! The scenery here is BEAUTIFUL, I keep forgetting to take pictures but I totally have to because I want to show them to everyone here. And, of course, it was really nice to see Becca again! It's been a pretty chill time here so far, which is REALLY nice. Even though I haven't been doing lots of stuff, it's really nice to just relax and enjoy the scenery. Becca went to a yoga class last night and somehow persuaded me to come along (!!!). As everyone knows, I'm probably the least flexible person on the planet, but I made it work.
There's also a legit scale in the bathroom here, and when I weighed myself (just out of curiosity) I found out that I had lost about 10 pounds since I've been here! I'm SO STOKED! That definitely made me feel a lot better.
Becca and I spent last night watching TV and just catching up with each other, it was really nice. I don't get to see her at all during the school year, obviously, so it was nice to finally be remotely close to one of my friends!
Today Becca and I went to a really cute little market, where I bought a DELICIOUS chocolate raspberry ripple. It was soooo good! I don't know what we're doing tonight, but the weather's really nice so I hope we're able to walk outside for a bit.
Tomorrow I get into London at 12:39. The Imperial Alternative Music Society is going to a concert at 1 (well, they're having a drink at 1 and then going to the concert). I really want to go (so I have something to do on Saturday) but I think I might be cutting it a bit close time-wise. In typical Miranda fashion, I am going to buy tickets (they're pretty cheap) and see if I can make it there. Let's hope this all works.

Tuesday and Wednesday

Hi everybody!
So this blog post is going to cover 2 days, because I forgot to update yesterday and today I'm going to bed really busy so I don't have a lot of time to update.
My final yesterday went really well! The only bad part was that it was so early in the morning -_-. After my final, I went to the club fair at Imperial College, which was really cool! I signed up for a bunch of clubs (including the CHEESE CLUB, CHOCOLATE CLUB, AND TEA CLUB!) and got a bunch of free stuff! It was really fun. I'm really happy to be like a college student again and start going to clubs and things like that. In fact, I have my first outing with the people from Imperial tonight! (More on that later)
After dinner, I went to the afterparty for the club fair with some guys in the literature program. The only good thing about the party was the INCREDIBLY CHEAP DRINKS! The cider was 1.70 and the beer was 2 pounds, which was epic. The bands they had playing were all right- there was one that did a lot of Pink Floyd covers ("In the Flesh", "Comfortably Numb") which was cool. It ended at 11, and some people were going to clubs and stuff afterward but I went back home.
Today, I'm prepping for my TRIP TO BATH TO SEE BECCA! After my laundry is done, I'm going to pack, which shouldn't take me too long (I'm a pretty fast packer). I also have to print out my train ticket at some point, but I can do that at any time.
Tonight, I am going to a pub crawl with the rock 'n' roll society at Imperial! I know you're all jealous. The guys there sounded really chill when I met them yesterday at the club fair. It's going to be great!

Tea with Dean Elmore! Nothing else mattered.

Hey!
So today I had my final for EN340. I was kind of nervous about it, but it ended up being pretty easy! The prof is really nice but kind of intimidating when you first meet him, so I wasn't sure if he was going to give us a really hard final or not. But as soon as I looked at the questions, I was pretty confident in what I was doing.
After the final, I got to have TEA WITH DEAN ELMORE! which I was pretty excited about. I talked to him for a bit, which was cool. They had free cake, scones, and of course TEA! It was pretty epic.
I also officially booked my tickets to Bath to see Becca! But it looks like I'm not going to do anything for the rest of the break. I'm kind of upset about this, but I'm telling myself that as long as I go somewhere in Europe at least once this semester, I'll be fine. My demands are as such:
1. Go somewhere in Europe (if I had my way it would be Italy, but this probably won't happen).
2. SEE ROCKY HORROR IN A THEATER FOR HALLOWEEN! I'm going to be a geek and get all excited because England is where it all started.
If those two things happen while I'm over here, I'll be a happy woman.
Also: I keep forgetting to write this in the blog, but I found a convenience store that sells "gum-flavored gum" (I know this is a weird way of referring to it...but what else would I say? Original gum?). And it's Bubblelicious at that, which gives you really big pieces, unlike Trident where I have to chew 2 pieces at a time. I know way too much about gum.
I'm excited because tomorrow is Imperial's little club fair thing, where I get to sign up for their clubs. YAY JOINING CLUBS! YAY MEETING BRITISH COLLEGE STUDENTS (ESPECIALLY THE GUYS)! Seriously, out of all the things I miss here, clubs are VERY high on the list. I like having lots of things to do, lol. And they're having an afterparty after the club fair, which should be good too.
My final tomorrow is at 9 IN THE MORNING. URGH. I'm going to love this so much. Mehhh.

Another late update...

It's past midnight here, but it's still October 3rd in the States, so this blog is technically not late, at least in my book.
The day was pretty uneventful. The most momentous event was that I FINISHED MY PAPER! It really didn't take me too long to write, which was good, and I was about 200 words over the word count, which was good- it's better than being under the word count:

So that was good. My first exam is tomorrow- wish me luck! Since I finished my paper that's technically due for Tuesday, I basically am free tomorrow after my exam, because I'm not too worried about my Tuesday exam at all. I believe there's some sort of comedy show for the Imperial kids tomorrow, so I'll see if people are going to that.
Oh- I AM OFFICIALLY GOING TO SEE BECCA IN BATH OVER BREAK! For part of the break anyway, lol. I have some tentative plans for what I'm going to do for the rest of the break, but I'm not going to reveal them here in case they don't work out.

Saturday, October 2, 2010

Well, October's starting off well for this blog...

Yo, so I didn't update yesterday either, haha. It's hard for me to update on days that I'm going out because I don't want to say I'm going somewhere when I'm not sure whether I'm going or not. I don't like going on the Internet in general after I go out (because I usually get back pretty late and don't want to wake my roommates up...and my feet hurt/I'm tired, etc.). So that's why I didn't update yesterday.
So! Yesterday I went to Club Egg. It took me a while to find someone to go with but I ended up going with some people from the 5th floor, who were all really nice. I had a fun time, but it took us FOREVER to get there because apparently none of us are good with directions...and they still made us pay a 6 pound cover even though we had already paid online. They also wouldn't give us our free drink vouchers at first, but eventually we got them. I had a great time!
Going slightly out of order, yesterday Phyllida law spoke to my "Meeting the Writer" class! She's actually more famous for being an actress (she's Emma Thompson's mother!) than a writer, but it was still cool to hear her talk about her book. She was really funny and sweet- we talked about the most random things, lol. I had to do a presentation on her book beforehand, and I think that went really well.
So today, I don't really have any plans. Normally I'd be kind of upset about that, but it's actually my own doing because I have exams next week. Here's what I have to do for next week:
- Read Defoe's A Journal of the Plague Year (for Monday)
- Study for my exams (I have 2 of them)
- Write a 2,000 word paper (for Tuesday)
I also have work for the week after break which I'll start if I have time. I woke up late today, so I don't have as much time as I'd like to work. I probably should stop writing this entry then, haha.
